We think we can keep it surface level and just count the bodies. Leaving our feelings at the door thinking this will keep us from hurting anybody. No strings attached, we agree. But our souls connect by the time we’re done. We do it multiple times again and again with others. Yet we yearn for more. Of course, because that’s how it was designed. For us to yearn for one for a lifetime. Not knowing the inner web we weave with every body we catch. Emotions aside, hmmm but souls tied. Our wedding night meant for two becoming one, becomes a tug of war instead. With other souls we’re tied to, in bodies we’ve lied down with.

STUDIO JOMEI is a multi-disciplinary creative studio with a focus on illustration for children and young adult books and comics. We also provide storyboard pre-production and directing for animated features and TV projects. The studio was founded by DARNELL and CHERKEIA JOHNSON.

We believe stories shape us and have done so since the day we are born. Storytelling is art and art tells stories. Our passion is to use our creative versatility to make art and tell stories that move you to wonder and hope. Our goal for STUDIO JOMEI is to build and create with amazing clients, but we are also passionate about developing our own content.
